My interest working with wood started back in high school woodshop class where we made small knick-knack type items, some of which are still around today. I wished this class would last the entire day. The instructor recognized this and allowed me to work on more complex items after school hours. In this time, I fabricated my first stringed instrument (a dulcimer), which I still have.
Little did I know, these early days would set my course. I have since held several occupations that were all associated in some form with woodworking. During this time there was always some type of ongoing woodworking project, whether for a customer or myself.
As time passed, projects became more complex and increasingly more time consuming. I decided in October of 1996 to go full time and open the doors of Out-Of-The-Woods and concentrate solely on my passion. I thoroughly enjoy all phases of this occupation, meeting new customers and assisting existing clientele, achieving their visions whether it be built-in cabinetry or free-standing furniture. I tell everybody that there were several influential people in my past that taught me right and wrong ways of cabinetmaking and joinery but also that I learn something new every day, striving to always deliver quality with my name on it.
